Pracatum English School

 

Pracatum English School has existed since 2005 with the goal of promoting teaching of the English language as a communication and social inclusion tool for 200 children and teens between the ages of 8 and 17 years old who are in socio-economic vulnerability situation.

Thereby expanding opportunities in the labor market and the educational and social development, not only for students of Candeal, free of charge, but also for residents of other districts of the city, since the school's doors are open to other communities in Salvador.Over the years, Pracatum English has consolidated its expertise in teaching Inclusive English as a methodology that takes into account aspects and dynamics of popular spaces, used as key elements of processes and pedagogical tools. This approach includes in its curriculum, the students' life experience in the classroom.

 

Other curriculum projects included are

 

Candeal Convida- A field class where students act as tour guides, presenting their neighborhood to visitors;

Candeal Cuisine - A interdisciplinary activity in which students come into contact with the cuisine and culture of various countries through practical cooking lessons.

Pracatum Claquete - A film project in which movies are selected according to the demands arising in the classroom.

Help Club - Aims to help students in the classroom who have difficulty with grammar and conversation.

The project also has a library, which acts as a reading mediation center, is open to the community with more than 500 national and international titles.

In addition to the children and youth, the English School offers evening classes for adults, aimed at the professional training of its residents, seeking to strengthen the tourism potential of the community.
